Mercy

Got some information this week that changed me.

Trying to process it all, take the next step – whatever that is, figure out what it means for me.

In the multitude of thoughts within me, my husband simply tells me that I am precious to him. Enough to lift my head. My friend tells me that Jesus makes all things new. Enough to remind me. My sister tells me my conviction that I am having a good hair day is… debatable. Enough to laugh.

Somehow

I know it’s all about mercy.

My family runs and plays in an open field for just a few minutes. But I could do it for a million more years. These little giggling girls are my delight, and the air smells so good. The sun is setting over the water, dancing through trees, and highlighting brown curls. That God made all this so amazing and shared it with me?

At a distance Rhema is dancing, engaging in a spontaneous game of chase with her father. She’s looking in his eyes, she’s squealing, she’s connecting, she’s playing a game. And the princess prances between them in bare feet, announcing her name is Ellory.

I know it’s all mercy.

There’s no arguing this point. It’s undeserved, what He has given me. This day, this family, all this life. Every day of this life He’s been saving me.

.
Thy mercy is more than a match for my heart,
Which wonders to feel its own hardness depart.
Dissolved by Thy goodness, I fall to the ground
And weep for the praise of the mercy I’ve found.

~Thy Mercy, My God sung by Sandra McCracken

***Well, it was not exactly easy to get Rhema to pick a name out of the hat, but… the winner of the giveaway for Dancing with Max by Emily Colson is:

Cheairs! Cheairs is a beautiful writer! Her blog at Redefining Typical has a way of quieting my heart.

***Thank you for your kind response to my last post. Many have asked how to get an emergency locator device for their child. Click here for BrickHouse Security and here for EmFinders. You can also call your local police department to see if there may already be a tracking system in place.

  1. Amen friend!! Grace and mercy to wake to another day, smell crisp air, hear birds sing their praises and laugh with children. Reminds me a bit of the 1000 Gifts book. Love Indelible Grace Music and SM. The song that has changed me the most is probably I Asked the Lord from Beams of Heaven. Love from Congo!

  2. I hope that whatever your news is that you are okay. And I’m so glad that Brandon is home with you to remind you how amazing you are. I’ll be happy to remind you of that myself.

  3. I don’t know how you do it. How you find the words/thoughts to be humble and appreciative. You have truly inspired me to be a better person. I send you warm wishes and cyber support for whatever you’re going through.

  4. I am praying for you as you process this information that you got this week. Like Alysia said…”I am glad that Brandon is there and that I hope that you are okay.” Praying for you.
Thank you also for the book. I am thrilled just thrilled. Thank you Rhema!

  5. We once had the same run-away problem with Alex. We ended up putting up an 8 foot fence around our yard, with the only door not bolted leading out to it. He doesn’t try any more now. We are on to other phases now. 🙂
Thanks for the mention of Redefining Typical. Another great blog to follow.

  6. So glad your girl now has this measure of safety that can give you and Brandon a tiny bit of wiggle room to breathe the teensiest bit easier. You are so right, mercy…all of the moments of our life, especially those moments that are “just enough” to be what we need them to be in that moment…mercy and grace…every breath.
